Jay Weinberg has spoken out about his firing from Slipknot, stating that it ‘remains confusing’ and left him feeling ‘heartbroken and blindsided’. The drummer departed the band in late 2023 after a ‘creative decision’ was made to go in a different direction. Weinberg shared that the experience was difficult, saying ‘my world just kind of bottomed out from under me’ after learning of his dismissal.
Weinberg has since moved on, joining Suicidal Tendencies in 2024 before quitting the group in January. He is currently working on his debut solo album, having released singles ‘Sandstone’ and ‘Drone Operator’. Slipknot, meanwhile, have been working on new music with their current drummer Eloy Casagrande and are set to release their ‘experimental’ lost album ‘Look Outside Your Window’ for Record Store Day 2026.
