A UK Conservative MP, Chris Philp, has called for DJ Haram to be barred from entering the UK after she made pro-Palestine comments at the Sydney Biennale. The DJ and producer, whose real name is Zubeyda Muzeyyen, performed live at the festival and shared her support for those struggling in Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Sudan, and Syria. She chanted the phrase ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ and dedicated her performance to pro-Palestine activists.
DJ Haram is currently under police investigation following her comments, and Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp has allegedly requested that she be barred from performing at her scheduled dates in the UK. Philp reportedly compared her to Kanye West, who was recently prevented from entering the UK due to his history of anti-Semitism. Despite the controversy, DJ Haram is still set to perform at London’s Phonox and the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham later this month.
