Poof Doof, the legendary queer events and nightclub brand, is entering the label business 15 years after its inception. Poof Doof Records launches with its first release, ‘All I Need,’ by resident artist Jimi the Kween, dropping on April 23. The label is an extension of the business formed in Melbourne in 2011 by founder Anthony ‘Hockers’ Hocking, with a mission to uplift and provide pathways for queer talent in Australia.
The label will accept submissions and aims to evolve into a traditional A&R model, identifying and developing emerging queer talent. Distribution is handled by AWAL Records, with partnerships with Positive Feedback and Powerhouse Management. The first release, ‘All I Need,’ embodies the label’s message of celebration, pride, and joy. With the launch of Poof Doof Records, the brand is set to share its music with the world, starting ahead of June’s Global Pride Month.
