Sky Ferreira has suggested that elements of Charli XCX’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ album were based on some of her ‘old songs’. Ferreira was a guest feature on the track ‘Eyes Of The World’ from the album, but she has implied that some of the music on the soundtrack was taken from her own original work. A social media user claimed that the intro to ‘Chains Of Love’ was ‘ripped’ from Ferreira’s demo ‘Ancient Idols’, and that ‘Altars’ was based on a Ferreira demo from 2015.
Ferreira responded to the claims, stating that she has ‘proof of everything with dates’ but doesn’t want to ‘get into it’. Charli XCX has not commented on Ferreira’s claims. The two artists have a history of collaboration, having worked together on the single ‘Cross You Out’ in 2019. Ferreira has been working to take back ownership of her songs after being dropped by her label, Capitol Records, in 2023.
