Jay-Z is set to return to the stage for a headline performance at the 2026 Roots Picnic, teaming up with The Roots to close out the first day of the festival on May 30. The two-day event will take place at Belmont Plateau, marking a new location for the Philadelphia festival. This joint performance will be the first time Jay-Z and The Roots have shared the stage as headliners in over a decade, following their iconic MTV Unplugged performance in 2001.
The announcement of Jay-Z’s return to the stage was made with a poster stylizing his name as JAŸ-Z, a nod to his debut album ‘Reasonable Doubt’. The performance is part of the ongoing 30th-anniversary celebrations for the album, which has seen the release of the original version of the single ‘Dead Presidents’ on streaming services. Jay-Z’s last headline performance was in 2019, and he was last on stage in July 2025, joining his wife Beyoncé during her ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour in Las Vegas.
