Pet Shop Boys have kicked off their ‘Obscure’ intimate live shows in London, performing a setlist featuring non-single album tracks and B-sides. The shows, which will run until April 10, saw the duo play multiple songs live for the first time, including ‘Will-O-The-Wisp’, ‘Two Divided by Zero’, and ‘Jack The Lad’. Other songs that made the setlist included ‘To Face The Truth’, ‘One in a Million / Mr. Vain’, and ‘Your Funny Uncle’, with special guest Sylvia Mason-James joining for ‘The Theatre’ and ‘Happiness Is an Option’.
The setlist also included live debuts of ‘After the Event’, ‘Hit and Miss’, ‘Always’, ‘New Boy’, ‘King of Rome’, ‘Love Is the Law’, and ‘The Performance of My Life’. The band’s latest studio album, ‘Nonetheless’, was released in April 2024 to critical acclaim, with NME hailing it as ‘the sublime sound of pop’s standard-bearers continuing to hone their craft’. The ‘Obscure’ shows continue tonight, with tomorrow’s gig serving as a benefit concert for War Child.
