Remy Ma’s streaming platform has renamed an upcoming movie after being threatened with legal action from Rick Ross. Ross’ lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter on Feb. 26, complaining about a trailer for a movie titled The Biggest Boss that was posted on Instagram. The film tells the story of a prison guard who becomes a rapper, similar to Ross’ own trajectory. The trailer also featured Ross’ hit song ‘The Boss’ in the background.
Ross’ attorney argued that the movie’s title and storyline could confuse viewers into thinking Ross approved or was affiliated with the film, harming his brand. Remy Ma’s company responded by taking down the original trailer and replacing it with a new one under the title The C.O., without Ross’ music. However, it’s unclear if this will satisfy Ross, who demanded that Ma cease production and halt the movie’s release to avoid potential litigation.
